– Freddy’s Bar Doggy Fashion Show – (Location: Freddy’s Bar, Greenwood) All the most fashion forward Fidos will be strutting their stuff on the red carpet when Brooklyn’s Fifth Avenue closes down for this second annual event. Dog owners are encouraged to bring their furry friends dressed in elaborate costumes, decked out in bedazzled collars or just as they are. In addition to the cat—ahem, dog—walk there will be beer specials, scavenger hunts and family friendly activities for the two-legged visitors to enjoy.
–The New York Musical Theatre Festival 2015 – NYMFomaniacs, rejoice! This impressive feast of new musicals (and a host of related events) takes over various theater spaces near Times Square for its 12th annual edition. Buried treasure could lie anywhere, so check nymf.org for a complete schedule.
–The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Fresh-faced Sarandon and Bostwick are the all-American honeymooners who wind up in the tender care of Tim Curry’s camper-than-thou Transylvanian transvestite, O’Brien’s hunchback butler and sundry kinky cronies. A string of hummable songs gives it momentum, Gray’s admirably straight-faced narrator holds it together, and a run on black lingerie takes care of almost everything else.
Sunday
–The Rubin Block Party – (Location: The Rubin Museum of Art, Chelsea) Celebrating the newest exhibit “Becoming Another: The Power of Masks,” the Rubin is throwing an all-ages block party. With the special free admission to the museum, visitors are invited to create their own masks and prayer beads, participate in an outdoor family-friendly yoga session and take tours of the galleries. Check out performances by Ajna Dance and Brooklyn Raga Massive or get in on the action by coming in elaborate garb for the costume contest.
– Kayak on the Hudson – Nothing strengthens a friendship like wading into water and having to count on your bud to keep a skinny canoe afloat, so bring your comrade along to kayak on the Hudson. You’ll get to go out on the water for 20-minute sessions, after a brief lesson, of course—just enough time to bond before your arms get tired.
… And if you’re feeling any type of pain or physical problem from having sooo much fun at these events, feel free to stop by out PT Doctor office anytime!! (:
